PLANED WOOD STRAW WORKSHOP | SusHi Tech Tokyo 2024

Visitors can have an experience of producing wooden straws. Japan became the first country in the world to produce wooden straws, thanks to its traditional carpenter’s hand plane (kanna). Visitors use Japanese wood, including thinned wood. The newly-found way of utilizing thinned wood is expected to contribute to promoting the thinning of wood in a timely and adequate manner, thus leading to better forest conservation.
